Delete data without deleting your account

In Flanio you can delete some of your data one item at a time without deleting your account. This page explains which data you can delete and how, what happens when you delete it, and what is kept and for how long. The Flanio app is provided by SİSİFOS YAZILIM VE TEKNOLOJİ ANONİM ŞİRKETİ. The deletion steps are in the app. If you can't access the app, or if some data has no delete option in the app, you can use the email route.

To delete your whole account, see the Account & data deletion request page.

What you can delete in the app

You make the deletions below in the app; a deletion takes effect immediately.

Delete your comment

  1. Open the page of the place where your comment is.
  2. Scroll down to the Comments section and find your comment marked Your comment.
  3. Open the three-dot menu (⋯) on your comment's header row and tap Delete your comment.
  4. At the Delete your comment? question, tap Delete your comment. To change your mind, tap Cancel.
  5. You see the message Your comment was removed.

The text of your comment, the indicator that you were at that place and the month you were there are deleted from the server. Your rating no longer appears in the app and is not counted in the place's average rating; your rating and the fact that you wrote a comment stay on record until your account is deleted. You cannot delete a comment hidden by moderation in the app; write to us about it.

Withdraw your tip

  1. Open the page of the place where you added the tip.
  2. In the Traveller tips section, find your tip under the Your tips heading. In review or Rejected is shown next to it.
  3. Tap Withdraw your tip.
  4. At the Withdraw this tip? question, tap Withdraw your tip. To change your mind, tap Cancel.
  5. You see the message Your tip has been withdrawn.

A tip you withdraw is deleted from the server and cannot be restored. Even if you do not withdraw a rejected tip, it is deleted automatically 30 days after the rejection decision. No withdraw button appears next to a tip whose status is Published; to have it removed, write to us.

Delete assistant chats

  1. Open the Flanio Assistant screen.
  2. Tap the history icon (Chat history) in the top bar.
  3. Tap the trash can icon (Delete) to the right of the chat you want to delete.
  4. At the Delete this chat? question, tap Delete. You see the message Chat deleted.

To delete all your chats at once, tap Delete all below the list, then tap Delete all again at the Delete all chats? question.

The chat and the messages in it are deleted from this phone and from Flanio's servers; the assistant no longer remembers that chat. If you do not delete your chats, they are deleted automatically after 90 days. A chat cannot be deleted while the assistant is writing a reply or right after you send a message; try again a minute later. If you reported a reply, the copy kept with the report (the reply, the message you wrote before it, the reason and the note you wrote) is outside this deletion; its retention period is stated below and in the Privacy Policy.

Data with no delete option in the app

If you want to delete data that has no delete option in the app, or if you cannot access the app, you can apply by email. Write from an email address registered to your account or one you have given us before, and say which data you want deleted; for a published tip, also say which tip at which place. We reply to your requests within 30 days at the latest. If you use Flanio as a guest, there is no email address registered to your account, so we cannot verify that the request comes from you; a guest account is closed automatically, together with its data, 30 days after your last sign-in.

What is deleted, what is kept?

This section lists the records related to the deletions on this page. Other retention periods are in sections 6 and 7 of the Privacy Policy.

Deleted

Kept

Only on your phone

The files of your travel documents and memory photos stay only on your phone; Flanio's servers hold no copy of them. You can delete them in the app, from the relevant screen. Photos you saved to your phone's gallery and your phone's backup (iCloud or Google) are outside this deletion; you need to remove them yourself. Your memories are different: if Backup is on, an encrypted copy of them is also kept on our servers; see the next section.

Your encrypted backup

If Backup is on, your memories, saved places and lists, trips, passport stamps, record of visited places, Travel Cards and tours are encrypted on your phone, and the encrypted copy is kept on our servers. Flanio cannot read that copy. The files of memory photos and documents are not part of it. To delete the copy on the server, turn Backup off in the app; the copy (both versions) is deleted within 48 hours at the latest after you turn it off. A memory you delete from your phone may remain in the backup until two backups have completed after the deletion; if you turn Backup off, it is deleted too. A record with no content remains, showing how many times and when the backup was updated; it is deleted when you delete your account. Turning Backup off does not delete the recovery code on your phone; if you turn it on again, the same code works. Turning it off does not delete the memories on your phone either.
